Our blog is now 12! A full dozen years ago, we launched our blog with quite an unambitious plan to cover our research and development in the world of cryptography and computer security. As we developed and introduced new tools and solutions, we started blogging about other things such as disk decryption, mobile extraction, and cloud forensics. Today, Elcomsoft blog is widely acknowledged by the cybersecurity community. Our articles are frequently mentioned in the media and discussions.
Our blog was never meant to be a purely marketing tool. We strived to provide our readers with unique information that one can hardly be find anywhere else. Discussing the latest technologies and trends in digital forensics, we always try to provide useful advice and deliver step-by-step guidelines where possible. We also use our blog to highlight the results of our own research or invite our colleagues to talk on their findings.
Twelve years is a great age to look back and reflect on what’s been achieved. All in all, we have written around 540 articles since March 2009. Our blog gets around 100,000 visitors monthly, reaching out to every continent and every country, including such places as Makati, Auckland, Lagos, or Anchorage. We are referred by schneier.com , computerworld.com, zdnet.com, heise.de, macrumors.com, myicloud.info, and many other popular sources. We also love sharing the stage with our friends and colleagues Per Thorsheim, Mattia Epifani and James Duffy and are always looking forward to their new guest posts.
In the real world at the age of 12, one can do many great things like watching 12-rated movies, making a will, accessing personal records or… use a smartphone! By this age, we have not only learned how to use a phone, but also how to extract it. We have more than a hundred articles on iOS acquisition, the top one being Everything You Wanted to Know about Activation Lock and iCloud Lock, and more than seventy articles on iCloud acquisition with the most popular one being iCloud Photo Library: All Your Photos Are Belong to Us.
We also blogged about desktop forensics, password protection, disk and NAS encryption. We repurposed the latest and greatest NVIDIA RTX 3000-series boards to break passwords faster than ever before (not that you can get one of these cards easily), researched and broke VM encryption, investigated BitLocker encryption and TPM protection, and created a concise walkthrough on extracting passwords from popular Web browsers among many other exciting things.
We want to thank our loyal subscribers for being with us, reading and sharing those bits of information that is most interesting. Please continue to check our blog for new content or check out some of the most popular articles by sorting them by category or using the tags cloud.
We also encourage you to nominate our blog in the Forensic 4:cast Awards 2021, in the category DFIR Blog of the Year: https://forensic4cast.com/2021/03/2021-forensic-4cast-awards-nominations-are-open/
